Make Time for Romance This Holiday Season

holidays, romanceIf you’re like most people, you’re gearing up for the busy holiday season. While it’s a great time of year, it can also put a strain on relationships. Here are a few tips for making time for romance, even in the busiest holiday season.

Make date night a priority

It’s easy to let holiday plans take over your life. If you’re in a relationship though, this can make your partner feel like they aren’t very important. Fortunately, it’s easy to avoid this by keeping up with date nights! If you don’t have a regular date night, then this is the time to start!

Say no…to obligations, that is!

Many people have a hard time saying “no” when they’re asked to help, especially during the holiday season. Not only can this put a strain on your free time, it also increases your overall stress level, which is a surefire romance killer! So, make sure you don’t over-obligate yourself with holiday festivities this time around!

Include romance in the celebration

The holidays and gift-giving go hand in hand. This gives you a golden opportunity to make romance a part of the celebration! This is a great way to make sure that holiday stress doesn’t end up hurting your relationship. So, pick out some sweet, romantic, and sexy gifts for your significant other so they know they’re always on your mind.

From Thanksgiving to Christmas, the holiday season is full of both fun and work. These simple tips can help you make the most of the season while protecting your relationship along the way!

Fake It Until You Feel It

lingerie, feel greatEveryone struggles with feelings of insecurity from time to time – it’s normal. But it’s important not to let those feelings keep you from living! So, when you’re feeling a bit off your game, these quick tips can help you feel more secure.

Feeling insecure about your tummy? No problem – dress yourself up and select darker colors, from emerald green and black to wine red. These colors are commonly used to make you look slimmer. Next, select baby doll style lingerie. This style hangs loosely around your midsection – it’s the perfect solution!

Not so happy with your bust line? Treat yourself to a padded, push-up bra set or select lingerie that has these features. A bustier is also a great choice as they greatly enhance your cleavage. If you’re looking for a more daring solution, try a plunging neckline. This cut creates the right illusion and is a sexy look!

Do your thighs have you down? You can get lingerie that stops mid-thigh to cover up this tricky problem area. A slinky robe can provide a bit of extra coverage as well. If you are looking for two-piece sets, boy shorts can do the trick. These sexy bottoms are flattering and they don’t pinch, pull, or crawl like other types of bottoms.

Unhappy with your arms? This common problem has a very easy fix. A sexy, lacy cover-up can be used with nearly any lingerie you wear, providing a bit of coverage in key areas like your arms and waist. You can also use a slinky satin robe to create the same effect.

These little tricks can help give you the boost you need to get over a slump. But remember, you’re  beautiful just like you are – don’t let a little insecurity ruin the fun!

The Many Uses of Lingerie

lingerie, sexy

We know what you’re thinking — there’s really only one use for lingerie. While that might be a popular opinion, it’s actually not the case.  Today we want to broaden your view a bit about all the great reasons you should wear more lingerie!

Setting  the mood – This might seem like a given, but it goes beyond just telling your partner that you’re interested. The type of lingerie you choose can give them a hint into your mood. Feeling playful? There’s lingerie for that. Feeling adventurous? There’s something for that too. Lingerie can speak for you, giving your partner the hint they need to kick start some fun.

Boosting your confidence – Nearly everyone has insecurity about their body from time to time. This can destroy your confidence, especially when things start to get serious. Wearing some sexy lingerie, however, can be a game changer. Lingerie has the near magical ability to make you confident. The key is to select flattering styles to play up your strengths and cover your trouble areas.

Banishing the boredom – Even if you have no problems in the libido department, there’s something about a nice piece of lingerie to get the blood moving. If you’ve been in a dry spell, wearing something sexy, especially if it’s unexpected, can jump start the adventures. It’s kind of like making a great dinner in the middle of the week, for no reason at all!

Overcome the blues – Wearing lingerie doesn’t have to lead to anything at all. In fact, wearing something that looks and feels amazing can lift your spirits. This mood-boosting trick can make a normal day seem special and a bad day seem a bit less so. So if you’re feeling blue, slip into something soft and feminine or sleek and sexy – whatever works for you.

It’s no surprise that we’re big fans of lingerie, but as you can see there are some pretty good reasons to give yourself permission to let loose and slip into something slinky.

Foods and Drinks to Avoid on Dates

dating, coffee, garlic, beansDates can be incredible fun, but we would be dishonest if we said they were not also stressful. Once you have gone on a few more dates with the same person, you tend to fret less. However, the foods and drinks you order on a date may cause further mishaps for you.

Beans are a HUGE no-no, for obvious reasons. Not only do beans have a certain unsavory side effect, but they can also bloat you. If you order a meal that includes beans, eat only a small amount to mitigate their effects.

Garlic can also cause you problems. Not only will garlic’s smell stay in your mouth long after you have finished eating, the herb absorbs into your bloodstream and pores. Keep any garlic to a minimum if you cannot avoid it completely.

Drinkwise, be careful about coffee. Coffee dates are very popular, but unfortunately coffee can stain your teeth. Coffee breath can be difficult to get rid of quickly. If you go on a coffee date, try an iced coffee beverage. This way, you can use a straw and keep the coffee from getting on your teeth! Also order a water on the side so you can sip it along with your coffee. It rinses out your mouth and helps combat the dreaded coffee breath.

First Date No-Nos

first date no-nosNobody really likes first dates. We know that it’s thrilling to go out with someone for the first time, but it is also stressful and full of uncertainty. While you can find plenty of tips about how to have a great first date, we thought we’d focus on some first date no-nos. These are things you should never do on the all-important first date.

1. Don’t talk about your ex! We know it’s tempting, but not only is it off-putting to say negative things about your ex, it’s just as bad to talk about them positively. It’s also insulting to the person you’re with, so focus on getting to know your date and leave your ex in the past.

2. Don’t tell them you’ve “checked them out” online, even if you did. Looking through their Facebook or other social media account can give you a false sense of closeness and portray something that’s not real. Get to know them by interacting with them, not reading about them.

3. Go easy on the drinks. It’s okay to have a cocktail but be don’t overdo it. Not only do you want to remain in control of your facilities, getting drunk on your first date is pretty unflattering. So cut yourself off early on and save yourself a lot of regret.

4. Don’t start talking about the future, no matter how much your heart is fluttering. This can be a red flag that you’re clingy and desperate, which is exactly the wrong message to send. So keep it light and enjoy yourself without expectations.

5. Don’t spend the night on your phone. The point of your date is to get to know each other, and you can’t do that if you’re playing on your phone all night. It’s also pretty rude, so put your phone away and focus on your date!

Tips for Throwing the Perfect Bachelorette Party

Bachelorette Party (1)It seems like throwing a wild and crazy bachelor party gets most of the attention when it comes to pre-wedding planning, but we don’t think this is fair.  In fact, we think that the bride-to-be deserves a last hooray too!

If you agree with us and are in charge of planning a bachelorette party, we want to help you make it a night to remember. Here are a few tips and ideas to get you started.

Call in the troops – Sure you might be in charge, but there’s no reason you have to do it alone. Enlist every friend you can find to help with the planning. This will take the pressure off and ensure that the night goes smoothly. It’s also a great way to brainstorm ideas.

Remember the bride – It’s important to remember that while you’re in charge of the night, this is not your party! This is all about the bride, so keep that in mind while you make plans. Make sure that the evening represents what she would want, even if it’s not your idea of fun.

Ask the bride – You should ask the bride two important things before you start making plans. The first is what they want the party to be like and perhaps most importantly, you need to ask what they don’t want during their special evening. Everyone has their own ideas and boundaries, and this will help you honor their wishes.

Have a plan B – Even the best of plans can go wrong. People get sick, dates and times need to change, entertainment falls through….so don’t expect everything to go right. Consider some alternatives for things to do, entertainment, and fun places to go. Thinking through a worst case scenario will reduce the stress should something go wrong.

And don’t forget our final, most important bachelorette party tip – enjoy yourself! Don’t get so caught up in getting things done and playing host that you forget to enjoy the fun you’ve planned! This is a once-in-a-lifetime night so get ready to make it one nobody will ever forget!

Setting the Mood with Candlelight

candlelight, candles, mood setting

We think the idea of creating a mood is one that gets overlooked. When you think about it, however, it makes a lot of sense. When you put on your exercise clothes, you feel more like exercising. When you dress up for work, you feel confident and ready to take on the day. But for some reason we’re supposed  to just be in the mood for romance without any effort?

Well, here at In the Garden of Eden we know that setting the mood is a big part of getting into the mood! We also know that it’s not really that hard to do. For starters, why not turn off the lights and set out some candles? This is one of the easiest ways to create an atmosphere that’s right for love.

The flickering light of candles instantly set a romantic mood. Candlelight is soft and more flattering than your bedroom light. Let’s face it–it’s far easier to be confident when you’re not under harsh lighting. You can light as many or as few as you want, allowing you to customize the lighting to match your mood.

Candles also come in many mood-enhancing scents. For instance, jasmine has an old-fashioned romantic scent that many people find alluring. Ylang Ylang is an exotic scent that is considered to have aphrodisiac properties.

Ultimately though, the scents that work for you are unique. It may even take a few tries before you settle on your favorite. Nothing wrong with that!
